When the mind causes pain

NU) – Susan, a 40-year-old school teacher, was suffering from daily headaches, neck pains, shoulder pains, chronic feelings of tension and sleepless nights. After performing a number of diagnostic tests and a thorough examination, Susan’s physician informed her that her X-rays, blood tests and MRI indicated she had no physical problems. Yet Susan’s pain was very real. To her surprise, her doctor told her that her physical pains and discomforts were symptoms of depression. Susan is one of several people who tell their stories of painful physical symptoms disrupting their lives in a video titled “When the Mind Causes Pain.” The video was produced by Freedom From Fear, a nonprofit mental illness advocacy organization. Freedom From Fear began its focus on pain and depression with a survey to explore the impact of physical symptoms on an individual’s work, social life and family life. 2020 WASSCE was successful-Heads of SHS

This year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) which started with practical subjects on July 20, is expected to end today, September 5, 2020. Some heads of Senior High Schools (SHS) in the Greater Accra Region had expressed satisfaction on the conduct of the exit examinations, saying it had been successful. The schools visited by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) were St Thomas Aquinas SHS, Labone SHS and Accra High SHS. Mr Paul Amoasi Baidoo, Headmaster, St Thomas Aquinas SHS, in an interview, said the examination was peaceful and successful and commended the students for comporting themselves. WAEC Nov/Dec centres, Index Numbers and timetable

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has said to release the 2020 Nov/Dec centres, Index Numbers and timetable for the conduct of WASSCE (PC) examination at a later date amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic in the country. The Nov/Dec centres, timetable and Index Number of candidates has been delayed this year amid the locally transmitted coronavirus that has claimed at least 223 lives of the time writing this post. The non-profit-making organization in a blog post on its official website sighted by Georgeweb.org said, it will at a later date communicate the Nov/Dec timetable to candidates and the members of the general public. Meanwhile, the Council has proactively extended the Nov/Dec registration deadline to a more comfortable date for applicants who have not registered yet to do so. The Ghana Education Service (GES) has via the GES promotion portal www.gespromotion.gov.gh made it easy for applicants to purchase an eVoucher code using their Mobile Money at a fee of (GHC 10.00). Applicants are to visit www.gespromotion.gov.gh to buy the eVoucher code using their Mobile Money with the following procedures 1.
